Textract OCR Privacy Policy

Textract OCR is designed to recognize, copy, and translate text on your Mac while keeping your screen content private.

Screen content and OCR

Textract OCR uses on-device Apple Vision APIs for optical character recognition. Screenshots, selected screen regions, recognized text, and translated text are not uploaded to our server for OCR processing.

Translation

When local translation is enabled, Textract OCR uses Apple Translation on your Mac for supported languages. Translation content does not need to be sent to our server.

Subscription data

If you use Textract Pro, we may process the minimum App Store transaction information needed to validate and cache subscription status, such as product identifiers, transaction identifiers, subscription status, expiration dates, renewal status, and anonymous subscription access tokens.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Subscription purchases are processed by Apple. Backend services may be hosted by infrastructure providers solely to operate subscription validation and notification handling.

Retention

Subscription records are retained as needed to provide the service, resolve support issues, comply with legal obligations, and prevent abuse.

Your choices

You can use core local OCR features without uploading screen content to us. You can also manage subscriptions through the App Store and request subscription-related support through the support page.
